Tonight I made chocolate waffles using a recipe from Good Eats. They're pretty rich. I still have about half the batter left over. The recipe includes three eggs, a pint of buttermilk, four ounces of chocolate chips, and half a cup of cocoa. The resultant waffle smells wonderful while it's cooking but doesn't have an overpowering chocolate taste to it. I think they might be better with some whipped cream and strawberries.

I haven't been making waffles so much lately, mainly because they're so unhealthy, but as an occasional treat they're great. I've tried mixing blueberries and chocolate chips into the batter but they tend to char on the impossible-to-clean grid. Chambord makes the whole kitchen smell wonderfully of raspberries but it doesn't make the waffles taste much better.
